That means there are no other areas like Foxcroft, where families can all settle in together. Its distinct, tree-lined streets and small town feel are just one of the many reasons why this is one of the best neighborhoods in Charlotte. What’s the history behind Foxcroft?

Foxcroft is located in the north-west of Charlotte, and was founded in 1957. The name of the community comes from Thomas Foxcroft, who was an architect and developer who helped create it. The location of Foxcroft was chosen for its proximity to the city. The community is about 15 miles from the city, and around 5 miles from I-85. It’s easy to get there from the airport, and from the city center because it’s located in the middle of two highways.  Now, back to the history of the community. The area was originally a tobacco plantation. In the 1930s and 40s, the area underwent a transformation into a residential neighborhood. It was named by Foxcroft himself because he thought it was a “fair English name.” It’s also a nod to the rolling hills of the area, which is what inspired Foxcroft’s name choice.

The community is a little under a mile away from the lake, and is situated right next to the Lake Wylie Country Club. It’s easy to find, and the streets are well-maintained. The community is also easy to get to from the I-85 corridor, thanks to its location, making it perfect for commuting.

The best restaurants in Foxcroft

Foxcroft is known for its large community, which means there’s a wealth of options for dining out. The neighborhood has tons of great spots for brunch, lunch, dinner, and drinks. Here are some of our favorites. You’ll find even more at the end of the article.  Tables - This is our go-to restaurant when we don’t feel like cooking. The menu is extensive and full of healthy options, plus there are a ton of gluten-free and vegan options as well.  La Sirena - This is one of our favorite places to go for dinner. We love the tacos, the margaritas, and the atmosphere.  Brick Oven Pizza - We are obsessed with this pizza joint. It’s located right by the community pool, so it’s a great option when we want to cool down after a day at the pool.

Shops in Foxcroft

If you’re looking to shop in Foxcroft, you’re in luck. The community is full of unique boutiques, antique shops, and art galleries. Here are some of our favorites.  Foxcroft Antique Mall - We love this mall for the variety of stores it has to offer. It’s located just off of Lake Wylie Road, so it’s perfect for exploring when you’re out and about.  Foxcroft Books - This is one of our favorite bookstores in the area. It’s quirky and full of personality.  Local Heart - This shop is one of our favorite spots for gifts in Foxcroft. The store is full of heartwarming gifts and decorations, and the owner is so friendly.

Things to do in Foxcroft

If you’re looking for a way to spend time outside and get some exercise, you’ve come to the right place. Foxcroft has so many amazing things to do on weekends and summer days. Here are a few of our favorites.  Go to the Lake - This is one of our favorite things to do in Foxcroft on a weekend. We love going to Lake Wylie, where you can chill by the lake, read a book, or just people-watch.  Visit a Museum - There are so many museums nearby that you can visit. The Meindl Museum and the Museum of Southern Art are both within easy driving distance from Foxcroft.  Visit a Park - The community has a ton of parks, and several of them are dog-friendly. We love taking our dogs to Pinecrest Park or Twin Lakes Park.
